Welcome Back! It is both an exciting and chaotic time for myself and all of the SHS Staff this year as we open our new high school. Hopefully, by now most of you have been able to see our new facility. The school itself is fantastic and our community should be proud. We are happy that our school year started on time and your students will be given the opportunity to receive a "Grade A" education.
As always, our focus will be on "Student Learning." The skill of learning challenging things is what every student should take from high school and use it to help them through college and into the working world. With the new high school, that should improve because of more technology access, and teachers will have the opportunity to try new things to make it a better learning environment.
Make sure you are aware of the student handbook. It is located on-line this year so that we would not have to print so many copies. If you would still like to receive a hard copy, you can contact one of the secretaries in the front office for assistance. When referring to the handbook you should note a few changes:
1. Cell Phones will be allowed to be used before school, after school, and at lunch. Any use of cell phones during class time will result in disciplinary action. 2. Excessive absences will result in a drop in your student's final percentage grade. Students need to be in school to maximize their education so we are taking a hard line when it comes to attendance. We are looking forward to a great year, in a new school, with many activities, and teachers that will do their best to provide your kids with a quality education.
